16.Sep.2009 It’s SHOWTIME

My design for the Showtime series “The Tudors” was picked up by Showtime to be for their Metropolitan Showtime ShowHouse. The Showhouse it’s a New York City Loft where each room is inspired by Showtime original series and promotes the premieres or these shows : The Tudors, Nurse Jackie, Californiacation, Weeds, United States of Tara and Dexter. Working Class Studio created pillows, mugs, T-Shirts, Bags and candles to go along with this premiere.

I worked on the show “The Tudors”. My design for a Tudors tote bag is now featured on Sho.com and at ShopSCAD in Atlanta and Savannah.

20.Aug.2009 What sound does a business card make?

My new business cards came in! Reasons to love moo.com:

DSC02199

1. The cards come in a cute case to hold at least 50 of your cards and about 30 of your clients/friends cards.

DSC02205

2.  The printing was easy to upload and came out exactly as I wanted it.

3. The sizing is a little different than most business card(ref. card: Yukiko Adachi), however I don’t think that is a problem and doesn’t effect my design.

I am very pleased with my business cards and will most likely buy more from moo.com. The only issue I have with the cards is the thickness of paper. I ordered the recycled paper and I am wondering if that is the reason why they are thinner than most BCs. They also offer postercard, mini cards, gift cards and all different kinds of acessories for them! Definitely check them out.

An old saying that I came up with

A pronto plate from freshman year. I was only 19. I am a completely different person now from who I was than, yet this is still one of my favorite piece’s I have created. Good job Linda from 2006!

13.Aug.2009 Savannah Secessions Gallery

Three pieces from my portfolio were on display at the Savannah Secession Exhibition at the Black Space Gallery in Savannah. These are a few pictures of me and my work (thanks mom) at the Gallery on May 29, 2009

Also, Letterforms was the third piece that a part of the exhibit. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get a good picture of that, or really any of the work because of the massive amount of people that were at the Gallery.

Here is what I have for my final idea for a business card. Just looking for some feedback before i send it to print. Let me know if you think it displays my style. also, do you think it is important to have Graphic Designer on there? I’ve gotten a lot of mixed feedback about that

28.Jul.2009 Shepard Fairey: Supply & Demand

ica_fairey1

Last week I went to the  ICA in Boston to see the exhibition Shepard Farey: Supply & Demand. I’ve always liked his style and I was very interested in seeing more of what he has done. I was also very interested in learning more about his thought process behind his work.

It was a HUGE exhibit. I’ve never seen any exhibit at the ICA with so much art work and so much information about the art and artist. You enter the exhibit facing a wall covered but 11×17 prints of the OBEY giant, behind that wall was a room filled with variations of OBEY and how/why that became an icon for Fairey. The next room was covered with multi layered art pieces. The next room was filled with skate desks and music posters. The room after that was a few of his political posters and iconic posters along with some of his personal possessions, like his first silkscreen for OBEY, his sneakers, a letter from Obama and his limited edition bookcovers for George Orwell’s Animal Farm and 1984. In the gift shop I bought his 1984 edition, it was just too sweet to pass up.

Anyways, the exhibit ends with this beautiful wall mural (image at the top) opposite a wall of at least 50 11-17 posters. I just can’t get over how much of his work they had there. There was also a side room that was playing a video about Shepard Fairey. It showed his personal studio, a time laps of him creating the mural in the image at the top and also showed him on the streets of Boston and New York working in the public. He seems like such a awesome guy. His message may be a little typical but it’s something that is presented to us in a unique manor. I was really blown away by his message, not because it was something new but because of the way he reminds everyone of power. Here is a really good article about the show Boston Globe

Also the ICA is showing the movie They Live this month because of the influence it had on Fairey. I kind of want to go just to see this movie play in a well respected art Museum

19.Jul.2009 Taking care of business cards

I’ve been working on some ideas tonight for a business card. I really hate doing any personal identity, I think it is the hardest thing to create. You are basically creating everything you want people to judge you on. You can either come off as a super cool design that makes your clients want to hang out with you and be your best friend; or you come off looking stupid…thats about it. anyways, please help me out and giv me some advice or pointers on the direction i am heading in with these.
